Elderly Support

EAMAN’s Elderly Support program honors older adults as valued members of the community whose experience, faith, language, and memories strengthen future generations. Many elders face challenges such as transportation, loneliness, unfamiliar public systems, language barriers, changing family roles, or difficulty accessing reliable information. Our program focuses on connection, practical support, respectful outreach, and referrals to appropriate services.

Activities may include friendly check-ins, community gatherings, help understanding general service information, transportation coordination when volunteers are available, and connections to local organizations that specialize in senior needs. EAMAN may also provide opportunities for elders to share stories, cultural knowledge, and advice with younger community members. These intergenerational relationships help reduce isolation while preserving valuable heritage.

The program does not provide medical care, legal representation, financial advice, or in-home professional services. When an elder has specialized needs, EAMAN seeks to identify responsible community partners or public resources that may be able to help. Families remain involved whenever appropriate, and privacy is treated seriously.

Respect guides every interaction. Volunteers are expected to listen patiently, communicate clearly, and avoid making promises they cannot keep. The goal is not to take control away from older adults, but to support their dignity, choices, and independence. EAMAN also recognizes the important role of caregivers and family members, who may need information, encouragement, or referrals of their own.

Community members can contact EAMAN to ask about available elderly support activities or to recommend an elder who may benefit from outreach. Whenever possible, consent should be obtained before sharing personal information. Volunteers interested in serving seniors may be asked about language skills, transportation availability, experience, and scheduling.

A strong community does not leave its elders behind. Through consistent relationships, practical guidance, cultural connection, and responsible referrals, EAMAN works to help older adults remain visible, respected, and connected to community life in Nashville.
