Our organization

Ethiopian American Muslim Association of Nashville, known as EAMAN, is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Nashville, Tennessee. The organization was established to respond to the educational, cultural, religious, psychological, and socioeconomic needs of Ethiopian and other African refugees, immigrants, and families. Since 1996, EAMAN has created opportunities for community connection, learning, service, and cultural continuity.

Our community includes people with different experiences, languages, ages, family structures, and stages of settlement. Some members are newly arrived and need help understanding local systems. Others have lived in Nashville for many years and want to mentor youth, preserve traditions, support elders, or contribute professional knowledge. EAMAN brings these strengths together in a charitable setting.

The association’s work includes community health education, youth empowerment, elderly support, culture and heritage activities, professional development, small business education, civic engagement, and volunteer opportunities. EAMAN may also organize community gatherings connected to important cultural and religious occasions, including programs that welcome Ramadan and strengthen relationships between families.

EAMAN’s role is to educate, connect, encourage, and refer. We do not replace licensed healthcare providers, lawyers, accountants, schools, or government agencies. When a community member needs specialized services, we work to identify responsible partners and accurate information. This approach helps protect participants while keeping our programs focused on the organization’s mission.

Transparency matters. EAMAN is identified throughout this website as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and our EIN is 47-4972082. We do not use exaggerated impact figures or make claims that cannot be supported. Activities depend on community needs, volunteer capacity, responsible funding, and available partnerships.

The organization is led by community members who understand both Ethiopian heritage and life in Nashville. President Miftah S. Semane represents the association’s commitment to service, accountability, and positive community impact. EAMAN welcomes respectful collaboration with individuals and organizations that share these goals.
